Twin Cities Tropical Environments Network (TC-Tropics) is happy to announce the second in our series of Fall 2014 events!

Tuesday, October 7 from 6 to 8 pm
Institute on the Environment
1954 Buford Avenue, Saint Paul MN

University of Minnesota Professor Jennifer Powers (Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, and Plant Biology) will discuss:

How can we better connect research, conservation, and education in Guanacaste, Costa Rica? A manifesto

Many academics studying tropical ecology hope to aid conservation efforts. Yet, there are few direct mechanisms that encourage dialog between researchers and conservation managers. Prof. Powers discusses ways to broadly disseminate research, making it relevant for education, conservation, and management.

From 6-6:45, we’ll converse over snacks (from the Seward Coop!) and drinks. At 6:45, we’ll hear Prof. Powers’ presentation and then continue the conversation over refreshments.

We invite everyone who is interested in the tropics to attend this event, including those from the private sector, NGOs, and academia. Please RSVP.

Parking: The closest pay parking ($6) is the Gortner Avenue ramp; there is also ample free parking along Cleveland Avenue and side streets after 5 pm. The campus connector stops at the corner of Buford and Gortner.
